One Local Summer Week 9

This week we took advantage of our garden's bounty, with new potatoes and green beans smothered in pesto. Only the olive oil and salt were not local.

The mixed cherry tomatoes were from our farmer's market and the garlic bread was made from day-old dinner rolls made at a local bakery.

The color turned out really weird in this photo of the first French apple pie of the season. The Lodi apples were from the farmer's market. Lodi are the first local apples each season and are great for baking. The sugar and shortening weren't local, but we served the pie with a drizzle of local cream on top.

Yum!

I miss fresh pesto with home grown tomatoes. I still have lots of pesto in the freezer. I need to search for good tomatoes.
